Coler Mountain Bike Preserve
bentonville, AR

Jenny Burbidge was an integral part of the design team at previous employer, Ecological Design Group, for the Coler Mountain Bike Preserve in Bentonville, Arkansas, a multi-year project that included multiple phases. The preserve spans more than 60 acres, and includes different landscape archetypes. Camping space on the ridge is on elevated platforms with shared gathering spaces, including the fire pit area, which anchors the northern portion of the preserve. A central hub nicknamed “the Homestead” sat low in the valley near the creek and preserved the existing barn structures found on the property. This area includes a bike-in only coffee shop/bar with outdoor seating. Lastly, an open air pavilion, equipped with restrooms, provides a landing space for events, and is easily accessible from a main road. Sprinter van parking, a yoga lookout platform, orchard, and an outdoor fitness area are a few of the supplementary uses at the recreation center.
