Our team, along with engineers and surveyors from Crafton Tull, provided designs for a 2-mile, 9-foot wide multi-use pedestrian trail in Camden, Arkansas. This trail, now named The Trace, follows an abandoned rail corridor. Services included trail alignment, grading and drainage, paving design, trail lighting, trailhead design and detailing, parking, and trail furnishings. Additional amenities included in the design included the signage, and bollards at several road crossings to include a state highway.

There were several historical, cultural, and natural points of interest along the trail. Crafton Tull engineers were sensitive in their design to ensure these features were not impacted. At each of these features, the trail design provided a means by which to enjoy each of these features without altering the nature of the feature or negatively impacting the setting. These features included a scenic overlook of an existing creek, an area of significant trees, a historical marker along the old rail corridor, and a natural spring that was preserved and enhanced with the construction of bioswales and rain gardens.
